“VEDAFEU C © cords” fire protection systems consist of non-combustible, rot-resistant mineral fibers embedded in a fiberglass mesh. This fire protection cord (formerly known as a firewall granule) is resistant to water, moisture, harsh chemicals, and microorganisms. “VEDAFEU C ©” fire protection systems have undergone various classification tests for horizontal and vertical joints. Tested without sealant and with a 20% movement allowance, VEDAFEU C ©, available in various diameters from 12 mm to 180 mm, are classified as EI 240 (fire-resistant and thermal insulation for 240 minutes without failure), for all joint openings from 10 to 200 mm.
Applications
For fire protection of all types of horizontal and vertical joints: floor, wall, and ceiling joints; joints between prefabricated facades; joints between nosings and facades.
For fire-rated walls, ducts and conduits, service ducts, and neoprene supports.
For sealing masonry joints: fire protection between the floor and the curtain wall (see Application Examples).
The fire barrier can be used in all types of buildings: hospitals, industrial and office buildings, residences, hotels, shopping centers, parking garages, schools, high schools, colleges, train stations, airports, stadiums, etc.
For the installation of the fire-resistant cable, refer to installation instructions No. 1 and No. 2, which have been validated by the official PV classification.
Finishes and Special Parts
VEDAFEU C © fire-stop cords are specifically marked for easy identification. This unique marking ensures that the installed barrier cord is the one that was specified. Sealing – Protection: Expansion joints in floors, walls, and ceilings may require additional protection. A watertight seal will be achieved, if necessary, by filling the top of the joint with an elastomeric sealant or using a waterproofing membrane. A joint cover, a flexible profile, or a mechanical seal can also ensure the expansion joint is closed.
